On Friday we held our final Pop-Up Foodbank here at Outwood Academy Redcar. Thank you to our amazing school and local communities in Redcar and Marske-by-the-Sea for such generous donations to allow us to run a non-means tested foodbank in our Farwath Centre from the end of November, through Christmas and into January. We decided to do this to coincide with the roll-out of Universal Credit within Redcar & Cleveland, and were very grateful of the support and guidance of Redcar Area Foodbank, which of course operates throughout the year.
Local businesses have also been particularly generous, alongside parents and others in our communities, dropping off donations daily (and sometimes hourly) into Redcar of our Academy, and that of sister Outwood Academy Bydales in Marske-by-the-Sea.
Thank you finally to all our Student Voice volunteers who chose to help with the set-up of the foodbank each week, and giving their time up each Friday evening 3.45-4.45pm to serve tea and coffee, and help with those visiting us to collect vitally needed food and other essential items. The project was overseen by Mr Skidmore, Vice Principal, supported by Mr Fairbrother, Site Manager and Mrs House, Business Manager, alongside many other staff including caretakers and many more. We are proud of the support our school communities have given to help those in need.
