Amy Melrose

Assistant Principal - Deep Learning. I began my career as an English teacher in 2014 after studying English at Teesside University then completing a PGCE at Durham University. In 2014, I secured my post at Redcar Academy which very quickly converted to Outwood Academy Redcar - a conversion I was very lucky to be a part of. I am extremely passionate about Teaching and Learning and believe that our students deserve the highest quality in and out of the classroom. As a result, I have been very privileged to be a part of many student-teachers’ journeys to reaching NQT status, acting as their mentor, and helping them build their foundations in their pursuit to becoming outstanding teachers in their field. This is a role I am still continuing with as I am, and will always be, committed to providing high standards of education for our students.

In 2018, I became an Aspiring Leader which was the start of my leadership training and journey. This role allowed me to develop the skills I needed to work beyond the classroom in order to help develop the wider whole school experience for staff and students. More recently, in 2019, I joined the Senior Leadership Team as an Associate Assistant Principal where my passion for Teaching and Learning continues to flourish. It is exciting to be part of Outwood Redcar’s wider journey. Although I am extremely proud of all that we have achieved so far, I am eager to see where we are headed next on our quest to transform and shape our students’ lives.
